(Taking) Care in the Climate Crisis
How can we think and speak about issues of climate justice and care without falling into alarming, eco-dystopian end-of-days narratives? How can we look after ourselves and each other whilst being honest and clear about the major challenges ahead?
On Earth Day 2021, the CHASE Climate Justice Network hosted its first Sharing Event to answer these questions and more. We were joined by a range of researchers and practitioners from art, law, eco-psychology, geography, creative writing, philosophy and beyond.
With the pandemic ongoing, our event took place in a bespoke online environment created by artist Andrea Khora, inspired by the themes of the event, and was hosted on gather.town. This enable all those taking part to wander, have informal chats, and explore the beautiful and troubling landscape Andrea had created. Artworks and video contributions were embedded within this landscape, including sound art, performative video tutorials, rituals and a fully integrated installation.
